Elvis was watching television on the couch with the magic key next to him on the arm of the chair. Then, Jem came to Elvis’s house to play. Elvis didn’t feel like playing with Jem. He just wanted to watch a television program about magpies. Jem wanted a magic adventure. Elvis reached for the magic key. It was not there! They searched under and in the couch, they found lots of things, like Mum’s missing earring, money and the magic key! The magic key had a lot of sticky toffee stuck to it. Jem used a lot of key polisher on the key. After Jem had cleaned the magic key, it looked a lot shiner. They brought it into Amy’s room. “Oh no!” cried Amy. “Will the magic still work now?”
The magic took Amy, Jem and Elvis to a wood. They all didn’t like it. “Come on let’s get out of here.” shouted Amy. Suddenly, Elvis found something. It was very bright and it was lying on the ground. It was very shiny. It was a diamond ring! Elvis picked it up. “What a beautiful ring! “Someone must have dropped it!” exclaimed Jem. Some soldiers came up to them and saw the ring in Elvis’s hand. They grabbed the children. “That ring is stolen. Come with us.” They said. The soldiers took the children to a prince in a castle. “We’ve found your thieves.” They said. “Here’s your ring. Here are your thieves.” Said the soldier.
“What else have they stolen?” “My buckle has been stolen!” claimed a man. “My necklace has been stolen!” Shouted a woman. A soldier took the magic key out of Amy’s pocket. “Look at this key! They have stolen it.” Said a soldier. “They must be locked in a dungeon immediately!” Unexpectedly, a magpie swopped down on the soldier, grabbed the magic key out of his hands and flew away. “Follow that magpie!” shouted Jem. The whole crowd sprinted after that thieving magpie. When they reached the wood that they came out from, the magpie landed on a tree branch that had the magpie’s nest on.
Elvis climbed the tree up to the branch with the magpie’s nest on. Elvis gasped in shock! The magpie was the thief! Elvis gave the stolen things back to their rightful owners one by one. The soldiers were very sorry that they blamed the children for stealing all the stolen things. The prince was very grateful for the children. He gave the children each a golden medallion, that is shiny and heavy, to pin on to their shirts. All of a sudden, the magic key began to glow. “Bye!” shouted Amy. In a blink of an eye they were back home again. “So, it was lucky that Jem cleaned the key otherwise, we would not get ourselves medallions to wear and keep.” Exclaimed Elvis.
